QSOs
The regular breaks in electricity supply of up to eight hours per day (as well as some luggage being delayed by three days) made this operation more challenging than usual. Despite the lack of sun-spots and the poor conditions over 37% of the QSOs made by C21SX - C21XF were with Europe. [Asia 38%, N-Am 22%, Oceania 2% and S-Am 1%]. Log-Search here

QSL'ing : By 31 Oct 2005 (five weeks after the end of the Nauru trip) some 1,200 C21XF QSLs (19% of QSO total) had already been sent either Direct or via the Bureau (in response to E-mails). Check here for the latest DX-Trip QSLing Statistics.

Nigel G3TXF at the Od'N Aiwo Hotel - location of several amateur radio operations from Nauru. The two WARC band vertical antennas (30m + 17m/12m) on the roof of the Od'N Aiwo hotel.
The Od'N Aiwo Hotel with the HF6 vertical on the left and the two WARC antennas on the right. The collapsed cantilever adjacent to the hotel - an ugly relic of Nauru's phosphate industry.
The island of Nauru lies just 0.5 deg South of the Equator and is at 167 deg East. The Nauru flag shows the equator, the blue sea and a silver star for the island. Roger C21SX presents Rubin C21RK with a copy of the book "Up Two - Adventures of a DXpeditioner" which includes a chapter on Roger's previous visit to Nauru in 1999.
Roger C21SX adjusts the tuning of the HF6V vertical used on 80m-40m-20m-15m-10m. The flat roof of the hotel, close to the sea, is an excellent location for amateur radio antennas.
