Near the peak of 11 year solar cycle it probably wasn't a good idea to attempt a single band 160m entry. I felt that LF conditions were going to be poor, and so it proved. Nevertheless it was going to be the same for everyone and as ever CQWW-CW provided loads of activity.
Thanks go to my pal Jack GW8DX for letting me use his brand new hilltop location in West Wales. His beverage set-up was excellent for receive and for the TX antenna I used a 55ft top loaded vertical with around 60 radials.
The radio conditions on 160m were not good, but the weather was much much worse!
Would I do it again? Yes, of course I would!
