G3TXF operated with wire dipole antennas from North Devon supported at about 15m high
by a partially elevated crank-up mast.  .

During a few weeks stay in North Devon G3TXF made some 8,670 QSOs.

3,300 QSOs were made in various HF Contests including :

  • RSGB 80m CW
  • IARU HF Champ (aka "WRTC-22") See band-map photo above showing WRTC activity on 20m CW
  • RSGB 80m SSB
  • Russian RTC
  • YOTA Contest
  • IOTA Contest
  • EU HF Champ
  • WAE-CW Contest
  • RDA Contest.

Individual wire dipoles were used for 80m, 40m and 20m  There were no antennas for 15m or 10m, but where necessary other antennas were "force-fed" on those two higher bands.

Meanwhile the main activity between contests was on 17m FT8, where over 5,300 QSOs were made in 150 DXCC Countries. The top 40 countries worked on 17m FT8 are shown in the table.

There was no resonant antenna for 17m.The 80m dipole was force-fed for 17m. The North Devon location has a good take-off towards the west. Over 1,500 QSOs were made with stations in the USA. There were nearly 700 17m FT8 QSOs with Japan..

Unusual to see G3TXF listed ahead of K1LZ in any contest tables! The winches need replacing from time to time

Plenty of W and JA stations to be worked on 17m FT8 A new Yaesu FT-DX-101-MP was used on 17m FT8
